I need to drill 1-1/8 or 1-1/4 inch holes through well cured (very hard) concrete. I have an SDS type drill... any particular brand or style of bit better for this job?

If your SDSplus hammer is rated for 1-1/8, then you should have no problem drilling. see part for 10" drill depth or part for 16" drill depth. stay with the 1-1/8 so that your hammer can transfer more pounds per square inch of force vs using the 1-1/4.
